Worker's Permit

If your son or daughter has turned 14 years old or will turn 14 in the next few months, they are eligible to work in Virginia. To work, a student must obtain a worker's permit. Schools no longer give these out; instead, you must access them on-line @ www.doli.virginia.gov Once on the site, go to the tab "Labor Law" then click on Youth Employment. Then, under "In this Section" click on Employment Certificates and follow the directions in the paragraph.
